History 7:
In this class we will begin by studying The Revolutionary War and work chronologically to the Civil War. At the same time, we take a daily look at current events and see how they relate to the past as well as learning to be informed citizens about our world and community.
Your Grade:
100-90%= A
89-80%= B
79-70%= C
69-60%= D
Below 60%= F
**Grades will be updated weekly on Synergy and report cards will be mailed at the end of each quarter.**
Assignments:
Assignments will be given a point value when assigned. Any late work will require a late work pass to receive credit for the assignment given. Each quarter students receive one pass for late work.
Assessment:
Grade breakdown:
1. Daily Work and Current Events=45%
2. Unit Tests=35%
3. Vocab. Quizzes= 20%
Tests:
Test in this class are mainly multiple choice, matching and true/false in form. Tests will be given at the end of each unit (about every 2-3 weeks). Students will be given notice of a test date at least 1 week in advance of the test.
Vocabulary Quizzes:
Each unit students will take a vocabulary quiz on the key terms of the chapter. Students will make flashcards for study material. The quiz will be matching in form.
Classroom Behavior:
1. Be Prompt:
Students are expected to be in their assigned seats when the bell sounds or they are considered tardy.
2. Be Responsible:
-Be in your desk with materials and be ready to work when the bell rings.
-Stay in your assigned seat (The teacher, not the bell, will dismiss you at the end of the hour.)
3. Be Attentive:
-Listen while others are speaking.
-Follow instructions, the first time.
-Always do your best.
4. Be Considerate:
-Respect yourself, others, and their property.
-Be nice, no physical or verbal abuse.
-Raise your hand before speaking out.
Each day please bring the following items to class:
1. Your history folder with history materials.
2. Your Chromebook fully charged.
3. A writing utensil.
4. A notebook.
5. Colored Pencils- when we are working on unit maps. (Please have one set for the school year).
1:1 Device Classroom Policy:
As a member of a 1:1 program, it is your responsibility to bring your device to class each day charged and ready for use. Failure to do so will result in your being sent to the Media Center to receive a violation. If your device is in need of charging it will be kept and charged for the remainder of the class hour or until it reaches 50%. It is your responsibility to pick it up between classes. Loaner devices are available only for devices that are mailed in for repair.
Violation #1 - Warning
Violation #2 - Detention
Violation #3 - Detention and loss of privilege to take device home for the period of 20 school days.
Late Policy:
1. Students will be issued a tardy if they are late to class without a pass. 3 tardies equal one lunch detention with each additional tardy resulting in another lunch detention.
Cheating:
Any student caught cheating will receive a zero for that assignment, test or project. That includes the student who copies and the student who lends the work to be copied. I will not make any exceptions or modifications of this policy.

Textbook and Videos:
1. The book used for class is- “Discovering our Past, A History of the United States-2014 Edition.” Each student will have the textbook downloaded on to the iPad for the school year.
2. Videos used in class include: A&E Biography Series, History Channel Specials, April Morning, Glory, PBS American President Series, Dances with Wolves, National Geographic Lewis and Clark Voyage and CNN Student News.
** Parents/Students-If you have any questions regarding any of the materials covered during the school year please contact me so we can discuss them or use an alternative assignment if needed.**
