1:1 Technology Expectations
The Chromebook is an educational device and as such students must follow all directions given by the teacher regarding the device’s use in class and always be on the specific task assigned by the teacher.
Chromebook Specific Requirements
As a member of a 1:1 program, it is your responsibility to bring your device to class each day charged and ready for use. Students will be sent to the Media Center for non-compliance and consequences or a teacher may email the Media Center. If your device is in need of charging it may kept and charged for the remainder of the class hour or until it reaches 50%. It is your responsibility to pick it up between classes.
Violation #1 - Warning
Violation #2 - Detention
Violation #3 - Detention and loss of privilege to take device home for the period of 20 school days.
Violation of these expectations may result in a loss of student’s access to a device or the Internet. If this happens, the student will be responsible for participation in class and the completion of the required work.
A NOTE TO PARENTS: When/if the device is taken home, the student will have access to the Internet. Parents may want to monitor this closely. School Internet filters do not apply outside of Pine City Public Schools’ network. If you are concerned, please work with your Internet provider to apply filters that limit access to inappropriate sites. Reporting Theft or Damage
If you do have any damage to your device, please print the 1:1 Technology Damage Report Form, bring this along with your device to Dihanna Fedder, High School Media Center/District Technology Integrationist 320-629-4154. You may be issued a temporary device or other materials until your device is working properly or replaced.

Chromebook Specific Requirements
- Device must remain in the school district provided case at all times. Student’s name and graduation year must be clearly displayed in the case’s window.
- The device must be situated securely on the working surface at all times.
- Treat your device responsibly. Avoid drinking or eating around your device, avoid using sharp objects on your device, avoid placing too much weight on top of your device, never expose to long term extreme temperatures (32 to 85 is the optimal range), carry your device carefully, never throw or slide a device, and never leave a device unattended.
- Approved cleaners are available in the Media Center.
- When not in your personal possession, the device should be in a secure, locked environment. Unattended devices will be collected and stored in the school’s media center.
- Do not lend your device to another person.
- Students may not alter the existing software on the device.
- Care must be exercised when plugging and unplugging accessories. Student-issued device accessories are the responsibility of the student.
- The device should come to school each day fully charged. Students could be given consequences for repeated violation of this. (see Classroom Expectations below)
- Parents and students need to understand the School District’s devices will be checked regularly for inappropriate use.
- Students need to understand that each device has the ability to be remotely located. Modifying, disabling or attempting to disable the locator is a violation of the acceptable use policy and grounds for disciplinary action.
- Please be aware that each device has a unique identification number and at no time should the numbers or labels be modified or removed.
- If parents have selected a Chromebook Protection Plan that allows student use at home, the device will be allowed to leave the building. Staff and/or parents may rescind this privilege.
